Mark up and link drawings

Open any drawing to mark it up and link areas of the sheet to RFIs, submittals, punch list items, and photos. Your team sees exactly where an issue is on the plans.

Open a drawing

Go to Drawings, open a folder, and click Preview on a drawing.

Markup tools

• Select and Pan
• Pen
• Text
• Shapes: line, rectangle, circle, arrow, polygon, and cloud
• Highlight and Squiggly underline
• Color and Stroke width
• Zoom and Search

Link a markup to an RFI, submittal, punch list item, or photo

1. Choose the link tool.
2. Select an area on the drawing.
3. Choose RFI, Submittal, Punch List, or Photo.
4. Link to an existing item, or create a new one.

Linked drawings appear on the RFI under Linked Drawings.

Note

Creating a new submittal from a drawing requires the owner or project manager role. Creating a new RFI requires owner, project manager, or field. If creating from the drawing isn’t available to you, create the item from the Submittals or RFIs page.

Save and download

• Save: keep your markups.
• Download with Annotations: a PDF that includes your markups.
• Download Original: the clean sheet.
• Clear All: remove all markups.

If you close with unsaved markups, you’ll be asked to confirm before losing them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I draw revision clouds?

Yes. The shapes tool includes a cloud.

Can I download a marked-up drawing?

Yes. Click Download with Annotations.

Can I link a drawing to an RFI?

Yes. Use the link tool on the drawing and choose RFI. The drawing then appears under Linked Drawings on the RFI.
