Spec sections

Specification sections are the numbered sections of the project manual, usually organized by CSI MasterFormat, like 03 30 00 Cast-in-Place Concrete. In SubmittalLink, you pick a spec section for each submittal and RFI, so your logs are organized by spec.

Who can do this

Owners and project managers.

Add a spec section

1. Go to Project Setup → Spec Sections.
2. Click Create.
3. Enter the Section Number (for example 08 71 00) and Title (for example Door Hardware).
4. Click Create Spec Section.

Use Update on a row to change it, or Delete to remove it.

Copy spec sections from another project

1. Click Copy from Project.
2. Choose the Source Project.
3. Search and select the sections you want, or click Select All.
4. Click Copy Sections.

You need at least one other project to copy from.

Export spec sections

Click Export PDF to download the list.

Frequently asked questions

Can SubmittalLink import spec sections from my spec book?

Yes. The SubmittalLink team can bulk-upload spec sections, or extract a submittal log from your spec book. See Onboarding services.

Do I have to use CSI MasterFormat numbers?

No. Enter whatever section numbers and titles your project manual uses.
