Punch lists
A punch list is a list of incomplete or deficient work to fix before closeout. In SubmittalLink, each punch list (for example “Level 2 walkthrough”) holds items. Each item has a location, assignees, an approver, photos, and a response thread.
Create a punch list
Section titled “Create a punch list”- Go to More → Punch Lists.
- Click Create Punch List, enter a Title, and save.
Add punch list items
Section titled “Add punch list items”- Click the punch list’s title to open it.
- Click Create.
- (Optional) Select a template.
- Fill in:
- Number and Title
- Status: Incomplete (default) or Complete
- Approver: who verifies the fix
- Assignees: who does the work
- Location: room, floor, or area
- Attachments: photos of the issue
- Turn on Email Notifications to notify assignees.
- Click Create Punch List Item, or Create and Send Emails.

Respond to a punch list item
Section titled “Respond to a punch list item”The project owner, the item’s approver, its assignees, and project managers and field users can respond. Open the item, click Add response, attach a photo of the completed work, and click Submit response.
Export a punch list
Section titled “Export a punch list”Open a punch list and click Export PDF to share it with subcontractors or the owner.

Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Can subcontractors close punch list items?
Section titled “Can subcontractors close punch list items?”Subcontractors can respond to items assigned to them, for example with a photo of the fix. Owners, project managers, and field users update the status to Complete.
Can I pin punch list items to the drawings?
Section titled “Can I pin punch list items to the drawings?”Yes. Use the link tool on a drawing and choose Punch List.
Can I export a punch list as a PDF?
Section titled “Can I export a punch list as a PDF?”Yes. Open the punch list and click Export PDF.
